Here is a picture of me from my LA photo shoot, maybe if I attended the Met Ball last week, I would have worn this!
This week, I released an introduction on youtube to my album Honkytonk Princess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWmBLkwr6A0
I have a song by the same name: I got the idea for this while talking to a manager and producer friend. He asked me how I would describe myself best at that point. I said, thinking of what I was going through, “Blue-Collar Princess…. Redneck Princess….NO. I know: “Honkytonk Princess.” And so the idea was born. And Travis took it and ran with it. I think I wrote the first verse, the pre-chorus melody line and lyric and threw in a few other ideas, but apart from that, its all him. Which is why it’s very funny and kind if sexy and in-your-face.
Travis (my co-writer and co-producer) and I always loved the Amanda Marshall record that this song was originally on. Her single “Birmingham” was on it, but this song never came out as a single. Even though many people loved it and in fact Elton John called it “the best song of the 90’s”. So we decided it would make a fine country song and a lovely and interesting duet and decided to cut it. It was our way of showing something we were passionate about to a new group of people, and paying respect to Amanda as a writer and artist.
Here’s the first picture from my brand new shoot following my article in Country Weekly. Gearing up more for the road and the single release and video, coming soon. Click the link to preview and purchase my album “Honkytonk Princess”!
